Case Study - Pierre Hermé Menu

Client: Pierre Hermé Macau

Creative direction: While the Pierre Hermé brand in Macau is perhaps most immediately associated with the Pierre Hermé Lounge in the Morpheus hotel, the “Picasso of Pastry” has a far greater reach in the city. These images are part of an effort to create a brand library for the opening of the hotel, while also populating digital menus and catalogs throughout the resort with pastries that may be ordered for other contexts.

The images, as a result, exist in a realm somewhere between cold catalog product photographs and creative food photography.

For the duration of the shoot, we worked at a studio we set up in a room adjacent executive chef Sebastien Bauer’s kitchen. Photographing food in a working kitchen always comes with challenges but the collaborative immediacy nearly always outweighs the space constraints.
