Mixing Matcha in Guangzhou

Japanese matcha, a powder made from finely ground green tea leaves.

Guangzhou is home to the world’s larges tea market. While most of the tea products available locally have a decidedly Chinese bent (as might be expected), Japanese teas and tea wares also enjoy a certain degree of popularity. Matcha is well represented, at prices that are all over the map.

These bamboo tea utensils do have attractive styling, although that still doesn’t inspire me to use one for hours on end.
